Ombudsman Warns Against Fast-Tracked Amendment to the Building Act

He warns that the amendment provides insufficient protection for public interests such as the protection of health, the environment, and cultural heritage. He also points to a weakening of the rights of citizens and other participants in building permit proceedings.

OHCHR Call for inputs: Mental Health Challenges & Young People's Human Rights

What weighs on young people’s minds the most? This question was asked to nearly 300 children and young adults aged 11–25. Despite differences in age, respondents agreed on one key issue: mental health. United Nations Human Rights (OHCHR) is currently preparing a report examining how mental health challenges affect young people’s ability to fully enjoy their human rights. The study will be presented at the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in September this year.

Fewer Worries for Foreigners Registered with the Employment Office: Ombudsman Secures Access to Health Insurance

The New Year has brought good news for foreigners holding a so-called non-dual employee card. If they are registered with the Employment Office, they are now entitled to public health insurance paid by the state. Foreigners with dual employee cards gained this entitlement earlier. The Ombudsman advocated for equal treatment of holders of both types of employee cards.
