Discrimination

Discrimination = a difference prohibited by law in the treatment of people in defined, comparable situations on grounds of different race, ethnic origin, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, belief, religion and opinions.

The Defender’s task is to contribute to promoting the right to equal treatment. To this end the Defender

  • provides methodological assistance to victims of discrimination:
    • he will undertake a legal evaluation of your situation and offer the most suitable options for further steps.
    • he will provide you with consultancy or offer co-operation in obtaining evidence, as required.
    • performs research in the area of discriminatio
    • publishes reports and issues recommendations on discrimination-related issue
    • provides for the exchange of information with European institutions for equal treatment
    • inquires into whether authorities actively detect and penalise discriminatory conduct in accordance with the law
